Interactive Whiteboard

This past week in class I saw my first interactive whiteboard. I was amazed and had to learn more. During the past 2 months in class I have learned so much about technology in education. There are so many resources for teachers and students. I have had my eyes opened and am glad for the tools we will be able to use as teachers. The interactive white board is awesome. I had no idea that such a great technological resource was out there along with so many useful lesson plans.

Internet Safety

This past week I have read several articles on Internet Awarness. It is scary with all of the things one needs to be aware of while surfing the net. I am glad that there are firewalls and other safety features to help protect users. There is so much information on the internet that we need to be very carefull with what sites we visit and what sites are valid. Safety is my greatest concern with children on the internet. Computers should be in a place where parents and adults can monitor the computer use.

Power Point

This past week I have been trying to learn a few new things about power point. I have been going over some of the lessons in the 50 power point activities book and they are somewhat difficult for me. After much trial and error I was able to do some of them. It has been quite the learning experience. I am now trying to figure out the digital camera lesson and put it on a power point. Hopefully it will go smoothly.

Digital Camera/Picassa

This past week has been good. In computer technology I am learning about picassa 3 and it is awesome. My wife also likes it. Now I can use this program to upload photos to the internet and also fix some of the photos that did not turn out very good. One of the other neat things picassa can do is put in special effects such as sepia, black and white, crop, contrast, focus, the list is vast. Hopefully I will learn how to put these photos onto a powerpoint, and learn how to use powerpoint better.

Much to learn

This week has been pretty good. I have learned a lot in my classes. In computer technology I have been able to learn a lot of new material, and I am becoming more comfortable around the computer. Yet the more I learn the more I realize that I need to still learn. I am excited about the pioneer library and all of the available resources that it has to offer. Time is going by quickly.

Ups and downs

This week has been crazy. I have struggled with my math 1050 class and am starting to have my doubts. In Astronomy I suidied hard for the test and did not do as well as I thought I would. My art class is going good thank goodness. In computer technology I think that I did ok on my All about me tab, but I am struggling with my K-12 assignment on remembering all of the steps on uploading documents, finding good information, and personal/public page things etc. Hopefully I will figure it out and do better in my classes this next week.

My first blog

This is my first blog ever. I am not very good with computers so I am trying to learn more about how to run them. I am taking a Computer Technology course to learn many new things about how to operate programs and the importance of learning this so I can teach this to future students. Technology is the future, and is very important in the education process.
